Our Team
Meet Matt:
Matthew McCrum was the original master cutter behind Aurora Faceting. With his experience in precision cutting and a lifelong fascination with gemstones, Matt combines his drive for excellence with artistic vision. His work is defined by innovative designs that bring out the maximum brilliance, fire and individuality in every stone.
Beyond technical skill, Matt is passionate about learning and pushing boundaries. He draws inspiration from Alaska’s natural environment whether it be the weather, mountains, rivers, animals or flora. Each inspiration is transformed into a gemstone expression. His perspective is both creative and unique.
Meet Linell:
Linell McCrum, a retired teacher, was initially trained as a gem cutter by Matt. She is the heart of Aurora Faceting and known for her precision, presentation and storytelling as well as her unbelievable organizational skills. She ensures that every gem is more than just a stone - it’s an experience. From curating collections to managing the creative direction of the brand, Linell brings warmth and vision to the business.
Her role extends beyond design; she is also the bridge between Aurora Faceting and the community. Whether connecting with clients, building partnerships, or sharing the story behind each gem, Linell ensures the values of integrity, creativity and family are reflected in everything Aurora Faceting does.
Meet Ryan:
Ryan McCrum, who currently works with the Aman Resorts, is steadily pursuing his goal of becoming a true gem and rough specialist. His passion for worldwide travel, combined with his growing expertise with gemstones, brings a unique global perspective to Aurora Faceting.
A natural people person, Ryan’s humor and ability to instantly connect with others make him an invaluable part of our team.
Whether he’s sharing stories of his travels, applying his growing knowledge of gemstones, or keeping us entertained, Ryan embodies the spirit of Aurora Faceting: passion, precision and connection.
Meet Mama Kitty & Ruthie the Golden Girl:
Every great studio needs guardians, and ours come with wagging tails and watchful eyes. Mama Kitty is the quiet overseer of the workshop - always nearby, perched in her favorite spot, keeping a gentle but sharp eye on the day’s work.
Ruthie, our loyal golden retriever, takes her role as the receiver of all packages and greeter of all visitors very seriously. Together, these two are more than pets - they’re part of the Aurora Faceting family, making sure our studio is always full of life, laughter and love.
